Novatel Wireless announced that it will supply Dell with Novatel Wireless EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) mobile broadband embedded modules.

Dell will include the Novatel Wireless third-generation (3G) modems in its next-generation Latitude notebook computers. The build-to-order 3G-equipped notebooks will enable Dell’s mobile customers to wirelessly send and receive emails, surf the Internet, download file attachments and access corporate networks through a virtual private network (VPN). In addition, Novatel Wireless’ embedded modules are backward compatible with 2.5G and 2G wireless standards, where 3G networks are not available. The notebooks are expected to be available in the first half of this year.

Soon you will be able to use your 3G phone to show off presentation slides through a portable LED pocket projector.

Toshiba is debuting a portable LED pocket projector at the Internationale Funkaustellung (IFA) 2005 in Berlin, with the company stating the projector can be used to connect to 3G multimedia handsets.

The LED projector weighs 565 grams, features SVGA (800 x 600) resolution using a 0.55-inch digital mirror device (DMD) chip, has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and uses USB connectivity. The 250-gram battery can run for two hours off-line and recharges fully in three hours, according to the company.

A USB reader enables presentations to be made even without a notebook computer. This new development can also be used together with a Home Cinema system or games console, or for showing photographs. This innovative product is supplied with a folding mini-screen and will be on sale for approximately 999 euros by the end of the year
